Hero Squad Comic

We used a comic strip to develop a draft comic. Some of us had time to publish. The is a great activity to use for looking into character stereotyping, problems/resolutions, developing a storyline, etc.
Just go to the Marvel Comics Website if you would like to create your own comic.

Shining Stars

Room O got to make these with our fantastic buddy class. On these stars is a picture of us and one of our buddy. Written around our portraits are our positive attributes.

Awesome Athletics

What a great day! All our training paid off and we were rewarded with a fabulous day. MSS has some very talented athletes!!! Could be some future Olympians…

What Now Dragon Competition

Here are some of the dragons we produced for a What Now competition. We took it a little further and gave them a name, name’s meaning, habitat, size, weight, length, and included some other information about the dragon.

Beneficial Bugs

These are designed to be vegetable row markers. Room O had to work through a bit of a process to make these to sell at the School Gala. We had to clean milk bottle lids, cut wire and pipe cleaners to certain lengths, hole punch the pupil, cut out the rest of the eye (this was tricky to get the right shape), make a wing template then cut out 40 pairs of wings, drill holes and then assemble it. We thought they looked cool!

Room O Photo ID Badges

We made these very cool badges using an internet badge generator. Under the information section we have included the things that make us unique. If you would like to make your own, type ‘big huge labs’ into Google. Along with these there is a considerable assortment of other things you can generate with your photos.

Paper planes

As part of a unit on statistics we got to make paper planes!!! The purpose of this was to collect appropriate data to produce a dot plot graph displaying flying distance against the variable, e.g. distance vs plane size. For this activity we also got to use decimals, such as plane 1 flew 6.4m.
In another fun statistics lesson we measured our resting pulse and after exercise pulse, put them on a stem and leaf graph and worked out the mean, median, mode and range. We also had discussion about the science behind it and how an athletes pulse would perform.

Fantastic Foxton Beach Trip

As part of our Stay Safe Unit the Senior Team looked into keeping safe around the beach, traffic, using the internet, and how to deal with bullying. These pictures show us learning heaps from the Surf Life Savers at Foxton Beach. It was an exceptional day!!!
